If anyone trying to make profits from internet he is vulnerable to be phished or scammed if he doesn’t follow some strategies to secure his wallet so we will tell you some tips you should follow to be secured and avoid scammers.

What is phishing or scamming ?  

It refers to cyberattack where scammers attempt to steal your cryptocurrency from your wallet they are using some deceptive tactics to trick you to give them your private keys, passwords or other sensitive information.


 

What is the tactics that scammers use?


1- Fake websites: it’s a mimic design for branding and legit website like famous crypto faucet or wallet these websites have URLs that are similar to the original one but with slight misspelling so you couldn’t notice the difference e.g. :instead of “binance.com” scamming site might be “binnance.com” they are designed to fake users so the user enters his email and password to log in but suddenly realize those information goes to the hacker and he lost  accessing to his wallet.

 



2- Fake emails: it appears to be from a trusted website but it actually sent by a scammer that aims to get your senstive information.

These emails are often contain links to phishing websites that mimic the design and branding for the real one so they suggest for you to download something like video or anything else but it’s a malicious software.

How could I know the email I received is a fake one??


- Wrong email address: check the sender’s email address carefully. Scammers usually use emails that similar to the legit one but may have slight change so you couldn’t notice.


-Urgent clicking: be ware from emails that have an urgent desire to get your click they pressure on you to click e.g. “ click here please, download for here” real company emails don’t do like that.

-mistakes in grammar or spelling: real company emails have a professional communication so if you see misspelling or wrong in syntax maybe it could be a fake email.

 

- contact company: if you’re not sure from the email you have received you can contact the company directly through their official email or into their social media networks.

 

- check the website URL: if the email contains a link you can drag your mouse into it (without clicking) and see if the URL matches with the real URL or not

 

3- fake giveaways: scammers offer fake giveaways in social media platforms like free cryptocurrency so they can trick users and oblige them to send their private keys or wallet password to win the prize.

 

4- Fake extensions: Scammers develop a browser extensions that appear to offer a useful features related to cryptocurrency e.g. Crypto pricing app or wallet management but those extensions are designed with malicious intent.  

 

Once you Installed the extension may request permission to access your browser data including your cryptocurrency wallet and your private keys once you accept permission they have access to your computer and they do whatever they want.

1-Only download extensions from trusted sources like chrome web store,mozilla Add-ons.

 

2-Read reviews and ratings from other users before installing extension.

 

3-Keep your extensions up to date with the latest update to get security.

 

4-Avoid some extensions that request unnecessary permission or ask for sensitive data

Fifth one is  tech support scams: scammers posting that they are a the support for specific company and you go to contact them then they ask you for some your sensitive information to help you with the problem after you sending them you realize that you contact wrong email and you have been deceived so we advise you to copy the email you want to contact from the real website and don’t give care about people who post support in social networks.
